Cell division in the human body during mitosis.

Mitotic prophase: DNA molecules are helical to form chromosomes. Homologous chromatids are connected by a centromere. The nucleolus disintegrates. The centrioles diverge to the poles, a fission spindle => 2n4c is formed. Metaphase: chromosomes in the equatorial plane form a metaphase plate. The spindle threads are attached to the centromere. Anaphase: centromere divides chromosomes, chromatids diverge to the poles and become chromosomes => 4n4c. Telophase: formation of new nuclei, despiralization of chromosomes, cell contents are dividing. A membrane septum appears in the center, two cells are formed that are identical to the mother => 2n2c.
