Changes in the social structure of the Roman Empire.

If before Julius Caesar Rome was a republic, then in all subsequent centuries the freedom of society was undermined. It began to be divided into classes. The most privileged were the Nobili. They represented the richest stratum of society. They had extensive possessions at their disposal. Their political support was the Senate.

In addition, they were involved in the administration of the conquered territories. Their representatives were appointed there in the form of legates. Consuls and proconsuls were chosen from among the nobles to govern the country.

The middle position was occupied by free citizens, and the lowest by slaves.
