Characteristics of mixed and deciduous forests.

Huge areas of mixed and deciduous forests are located to the south of the taiga forest zone. When moving southward, solar energy becomes more, so all plants become taller, and in general the plant world is much richer. Accordingly, in deciduous forests there is a great variety of vegetation; grasses, shrubs, and deciduous trees such as lindens, oaks, aspens, apple trees, birches, elms and many others grow here. Mixed forests are a transition from northern taiga forests to deciduous ones, so there are many conifers here. There is little humus, so the soil is not as fertile as in deciduous forests.
