The aquatic environment is the most gentle in comparison with the ground-air environment. It does not exhibit sharp temperature fluctuations (especially at depth), as is the case on land. It is also more dense, so its inhabitants do not always have a connection with the substrate (for example, fish).
Plankton is a group of organisms that cannot resist the current on their own and float in the water column. To do this, they have special devices that increase buoyancy, for example, cavities, protruding spines (also serve for protection), increased body surface area, etc.
