Charlemagne’s military achievements.

The main achievement of Charles the Great or Charlemagne was the unification of the Frankish lands and the conquest of the neighboring pagan tribes of the Saxons, with whom he fought fierce wars from 777 to 797. From 764 to 814, he also conquered the Bavarians and Slavs of Carantia in 788, annexed the kingdom of the Lombards to his state in 774. After his death, his sons were left with the Great Frankish Empire. It was not for nothing that Charles himself was crowned Emperor of the West by the Pope at a Christmas service in 800 at St. Peter’s Basilica.
