Chemical property of SiO2.

Silicon oxide is an acidic oxide, which corresponds to silicic acid – H2SiO3.
Typical chemical properties:
1. SiO2 + CaO = CaSiO2 – compound reaction;
2. SiO2 + 2Mg = 2MgO + S – ORP;
3. SiO2 + CaCO3 = CaSiO3 + CO2 – exchange reaction;
4. SiO3 + 3C = SiC + 2C – ORP;
5. SiO2 + 2H2 = Si + 2H2 – ORP;
Silicon oxide reacts with alkali solutions:
6. SiO2 + 2NaOH = Na2SiO3 + H2O – exchange reaction;
Silicon oxide interacts with acids:
7. SiO2 + 4HF = SiF4 + 2H2O – exchange reaction.
