| Compound reactions are characterized as reactions in which one complex substance is obtained from one or more starting materials. Examples of chemical reactions of the compound: 2P + 3Cl2 = 2PCl3; Na2O + CO2 = Na2CO3; N2 + O2 = 2NO.
Decomposition reactions are reactions in which two or more substances of a simpler type are obtained from one complex substance. An example of decomposition reactions: CaCO3 = CaO + CO2; Cu (OH) 2 = CuO + H2O.
