Comparative characteristics of the continental and oceanic crust.

There are two types of the earth’s crust – continental (or continental) and oceanic. The main difference is in their structure. The continental crust consists of three layers – a sedimentary cover, a granite layer and a basalt layer. It has a capacity of up to 70 km. The oceanic crust is formed by two layers – a sedimentary cover and a basalt layer. The thickness of the oceanic crust is much less than the continental one. This type of crust is observed only in ocean depressions.
