Compare the absolutism of England, Spain and France.

The king of France had a developed state apparatus that collected taxes from the population; he also had an army at his disposal. There was a parliament in Paris, which registered the king’s decrees and could speak out about them.

In Spain, under Charles 5, people were perceived as reserves for the army. The country itself consisted of several parts, the heads of which were viceroys in power.

In England, absolutism was strengthened by the reformation, which was accompanied by harsh terror. All were demanded of complete submission to the church, and in case of refusal, execution was expected.
