Compare the course of the English and French revolutions. Do you see the similarities?

Both revolutions began when the people’s representatives were called by the king to approve new taxes. The revolution was led by the legislature, both there and there. There was a civil war in England, in France there were only a series of riots. England was not touched by its neighbors, except for the Scottish troops. France fought off its neighbors. There was no equivalent of the Jacobin terror in England. England did not have a constitution, France had several. In both countries the king was executed.
