Compare the foreign policy of the European colonial empires (Portugal and Spain) and the Russian state in the 15th – 17th centuries. (common features and differences)

General:

Fight against Muslim states.
Territorial expansion, rapid growth of the territory.
Both Russia and Portugal in the 17th century had relations with China, only they got to it from different sides.

Differences:

Russia had no colonies, the development of Siberia went by different methods.
Spain and Portugal took part in the counter-reformation process in Europe, while Russia, on the contrary, developed ties with Protestants – England and Holland.
Russia had to spend a lot of effort and money on protection from the raids of the Crimean Tatars.
