Compare the goals of the reconquista and the crusades.

The goal of the Reconquista was the liberation of the Iberian Peninsula from the Arabs who seized it at the turn of the 7th-8th centuries. It began in 722, that is, 46 years before the Battle of Poitiers, in which the Franks were able to stop the advance of the Arabs to the north. The reconquista lasted for several centuries and led to the emergence of several states – Navara, Leon, Castile, Aragon, Portugal. It ended in 1492 with the victory of Spain.

The Crusades began due to the expansion of the Seljuk Turks and other Muslims in the Middle East. The emperor of Byzantium turned to Western Christians for help, and in 1095 the Pope called on the European knights to liberate Jerusalem. The crusades lasted less than 200 years, from the end of the 11th century to the end of the 13th century. The battles were fought outside Europe – in the Middle East, near Constantinople and in North Africa. As a result, Jerusalem remained with the Arabs.
