The beginning of the transformations can be considered the end of the 17th century (1695-1699), and the last years of his life – 1722-1725.

Features are as follows:

By 1695, Russia did not have any dynastic marriages with European countries, which became the norm under Peter I.
Before the start of the reforms, Russia did not have a fleet (military and merchant) in the Baltic Sea, and almost all of its eastern coast was controlled by Sweden. By 1725, the balance of power had changed, Sweden lost its status as a regional power.
Peter I managed to create a coalition against Sweden (Saxony, Denmark, Poland, Prussia); Russia maintained good relations with its members for almost the entire 18th century.
In the south, at the beginning of the reign of Peter I, Russia took part in the Holy Alliance against the Ottoman Empire, but by the end of his reign the balance of forces changed in favor of Turkey due to the defeat in the Prut campaign, but by 1723 it was possible to defeat Persia and for the first time to advance the southern borders to the city of Rasht on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
