Compare the methods of understanding the world proposed by F. Bacon and R. Descartes. Why are Bacon and Descartes considered the creators of the philosophy of modern times?

Bacon believed that the main thing in cognition was the experience that a person receives in the course of studying a subject. The more he gained experience, the more he understood. Descartes, on the other hand, considered reason as the main source of knowledge. That is, the basis of his method was the determination of the doubtfulness (verification) of scientific assumptions, as a result of which true knowledge was born. Thanks to the activities of these individuals, the foundation of modern philosophy was laid, as well as two methods of cognition: doubt and experiment.
