The organization of the Orthodox and Catholic Churches is in many ways similar, but it has several differences. The head of the Catholic Church is the Pope, the Orthodox Church is headed by the Patriarch. The Orthodox Church placed itself on a par with the monarch, the Catholic Church above him. The languages of worship differ: in the Catholic Church, the service is in Latin, in the Orthodox Church – in Ancient Greek or Old Church Slavonic (in Russia). There are also differences in rituals, for example, Catholics are baptized from left to right, and Orthodox Christians – from right to left.
