Compare the properties of Ca and Mg, how does Ca and Mg react with water?

Ca and Mg are metals. They are both in the second group. But since Ca is lower than Mg, it has stronger properties (that is, two identical reactions of these elements with the same reagents will go through at different rates)
Examples of reactions:
1) 2Mg + 02 = MgO (slower)
2Ca + 02 = CaO (faster)
2) Mg + 2H2O = Mg (OH) 2 + H2 (slower)
Ca + 2H2O = Ca (OH) 2 + H2 (faster)
