Compare the ways of feeding mushrooms, plants and animals.

Plants are autotrophs, i.e. they themselves choose organic matter from inorganic (the process of photosynthesis). Animals are heterotrophs, i.e. they feed on ready-made organic matter (animals can be herbivores, carnivores, omnivores). By the way of feeding, mushrooms are divided into saprophytes (feed on dead organic matter), symbionts (live on the host’s body and take nutrients, but do no harm), and parasites (live on the host’s body, take nutrients from it and harm it).
