Compare White and Red Army Similarities and Differences.

Differences:

The Red Army had a unified leadership throughout the Civil War. The Revolutionary Military Council (headed by Trotsky) and the commander-in-chief (Vatsetis, Kamenev). The whites had several centers and leaders – Kolchak, Semenov, Denikin, Wrangel.
The Whites were helped by the interventionists, they supplied them with weapons, for example, tanks, which then went to the Reds as trophies.

General:

The command staff of both armies consisted of former officers of the tsarist army.
The White Army appeared a little earlier – at the very end of 1917 on the Don, and the Red Army – in January-February 1918.
