Construct a line segment AB = 8 cm. Mark points C, D and E on this so that 1) AC equals 1/4 of AB 2) AD equals 7/8 of AB 3) DE equals 2/7 of AD

The original segment AB is 8 cm, then:

1) The segment AC is equal to 1/4 of AB, which means AC = 1/4 * 8 = 2, i.e. point C on the segment AB is located from point A at a distance of 2 centimeters;

2) The segment AD is equal to 7/8 of AB, which means AD = 7/8 * 8 = 7, i.e. point D on segment AB is located at a distance of 7 centimeters from point A;

3) The segment DE is equal to 2/7 of AD, which means DE = 2/7 * 7 = 1, i.e. point E on segment AD is located from point D at a distance of 1 centimeter.

Thus, the sequence of the location of the points is as follows: ACEDB, point C is located 2 cm from point A, point E from point C is located at a distance of 4 cm, point D from point E is removed at a distance of 1 cm, and point B is from point D – 1 cm.
