Could one knight be a vassal of several lords?

Knights of the Middle Ages who entered the service of a more influential and wealthy person received the status of a vassal. For the service of the suzerain, or in other words, the lord (master of the vassal) endowed the latter with land holdings. A vassal could have only one master, since the knightly code required loyalty to only one person.
