In the 6th century BC, the flourishing of the young Persian state began. Very soon, its borders were able to exceed the size of the Assyrian Empire. The Persians in a short period of time were able to seize the lands of Media, Babylon, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Lydia, etc. Thus, by the end of the 6th century BC, the Persians were able to expand the borders of the state to the Indus River in the east and to the Balkans in the west. It was the largest empire since the beginning of time.
