Define the set of values of the function y = -5Sinx + 3
August 7, 2021 | education
| We have a function that is given by the following formula:
y = -5 * sin x + 3;
Let’s define the set of values that it can take.
Sine is a trigonometric function, the values of which will always be in the range from -1 to 1, regardless of the argument, including the ends.
We write this as a double inequality:
-1 <= sinx <= 1; Multiply all parts of the equality by -5:
-5 <= -5 * sinx <= 5; Add a triple to all parts of the inequality:
-2 <= -5 * sinx + 3 <= 8.
The function range is all numbers from -2 to 8, including the ends.
