Resistance according to the formula is: R = U / I.
When the resistors are connected in series, the current is constant (I = const). Therefore, we sum up the voltage: U / I = U1 / I + U2 / I + … + Un / I and resistance: R = R1 + R2 + … + Rn.
When the resistors are connected in parallel, the voltage is constant, that is, (U = const), and the current is summed up:
I / U = I1 / U + I2 / U + … + In / U and resistance: 1 / R = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + … + 1 / Rn.
