Descendants of the first settlers in ancient Rome.

The descendants of the first settlers in Rome were called patricians. Patricians had broad powers and responsibilities in the state, since they were practically indigenous people. They sat in court, in the people’s assembly, and ruled over the country. They could also receive salaries, have slaves and land plots with territories. This was the privileged layer. New arrivals and prisoners of war became plebeians. They did not have such large-scale powers as the patricians and were considered a taxable population performing hard work.
