Describe how the climate of Eurasia changes when moving from west to east within the temperate climatic zone. State the reasons for the changes.
Moving from west to east across Eurasia, we can observe a gradual increase in continentality. This means that with the distance from the Atlantic, the annual air temperature drops increase: the winter becomes colder, and the summer remains hot. Also, as we move from west to east, a decrease in annual precipitation is observed. However, when approaching the Pacific Ocean, we already notice the opposite process – an increase in precipitation and higher average temperatures in winter. The main explanation for such changes when moving inland is the remoteness of territories from the oceans, which have a large effect on humidity and air temperature.
