Describe the actions of the USSR during the 1956 crisis in Hungary.

The leaders of the USSR described the events in Hungary as a counter-revolutionary coup, prepared by the NATO countries. Thus, Soviet troops were forced to storm Budapest. Over the course of a week, the resistance was broken practically throughout the territory of Hungary. As a result of the clashes, about 3 thousand people died. Another 200 thousand fled the country. Ultimately, Hungary remained under the influence of the Soviet Union. A government came to power in the country, which corresponded to the views of the USSR.
