Describe the characteristics of organisms living in the open waters of the seas and oceans.

Our planet is mostly covered with water. Seas, rivers, oceans occupy most of the planet’s surface, but we have studied space more than water resources. The seas and oceans are inhabited by incredible organisms and creatures. They were able to adapt to life due to the following factors:

– a device for breathing underwater (gills).

– organs for easy movement under water (flippers, fins. Webbing between the toes).

– an evolved digestive and excretory system.

– altered body integuments (the presence of scales, or body integuments, which reduce resistance when moving in water).

– streamlined body shape.

– living organisms have become cold-blooded.
