Having come to power, Napoleon Bonaparte declared himself consul for life. He began to pursue a progressive domestic policy to restore the economy and industry after the revolution. He supported small and large enterprises, announced the preservation of private property and land ownership. The consul supported the citizens. Then he became emperor. His power was different from the usual monarchy in that it was not limited in any way. Napoleon exercised the dictatorship of one ruler and did not collect parliament.
