Describe the importance of the Soviet-German front in World War II.

In World War II, the theater of action was extensive. The main forces of the German Reich and its allies in Europe were concentrated until the summer of 1941 on the Western Front and in Africa, where the Italians fought the British. With the opening of the Eastern Front and the beginning of the German-Soviet war after the conquest of Europe by the Reich, the main forces were sent there. Fierce battles were fought on the territory of the USSR, which “ground” the main forces of Germany, and a series of defeats forced them to retreat. The Eastern Front allowed the USSR’s allies to regroup and open the Second Front, landing in Italy in the summer of 1943.
