Describe the most important major change from the political map of Europe in 1918-1919.
The changes on the map of Europe relate to the peace process after the end of the First World War:
-Austria became a small independent state.
-Hungary also became independent, but its territory was greatly reduced.
-Finland gained full independence.
-Bulgaria lost part of Thrace, that is, access to the Aegean Sea. These lands were transferred to Greece.
-Romania received Transylvania, Bessarabia, Bukovina (Chernivtsi) and part of the modern Odessa region.
– Independent Poland appeared in November 1918 and Czechoslovakia (it included modern Transcarpathia).
-Serbia expanded its territory to the north and the new state became known as the kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Montenegro joined it.
-The continental empires ceased to exist: Russian, Austro-Hungarian and German.
