Describe the multiplication process of a prokaryotic cell using bacteria as an example.

Bacteria multiply by simply dividing in two. After replication of circular DNA, the cell elongates, and a transverse septum is formed in it. Subsequently, the daughter cells diverge or remain linked into groups.
