Describe the natural tundra zone.

The northernmost natural area with permanent vegetation is called tundra. In this natural zone, flora and fauna are very scarce, since the weather conditions are harsh and unfavorable. The soil is permafrost, infertile. The top layer contains a lot of peat. The vegetation is low, with lots of grasses, lichens and mosses that squeeze together to withstand strong winds. There are almost no trees and bushes. Deer, many species of rodents, birds and mustelids are found among animals.
