Roots and shoots appeared in plants in the process of evolution. The root began to function as a support in the soil and to absorb water with minerals. The shoot also has many functions as it consists of leaves, stem, buds and flower. These organs began to appear in terrestrial plants, but underwater plants do not have these organs. Algae, in principle, do not have any organs, so they belong to the lower plants. The emergence of plants from the water is the main reason for the appearance of roots and shoots in these organisms.
