Determine the current strength in a conductor with an active length of 10 cm in a magnetic field with an induction of 1T, if a force of 1.5N acts on it. the conductor is located perpendicular to the lines of induction of the magnetic field.

Given: l (active length of the taken conductor) = 10 cm (0.1 m); B (induction of the magnetic field in which the conductor is located) = 1 T; Fa (the force that acts on the active part of the conductor) = 1.5 N; the conductor is located at an angle of 90º to the magnetic induction lines.

The current strength in the conductor is determined from Ampere’s law: Fа = B * I * l * sinα and I = Fа / (B * l * sinα).

Calculation: I = 1.5 / (1 * 0.1 * sin 90º) = 15 A.

Answer: A current of 15 A flows in the active part of the conductor.
