Determine the energy of a quantum of green light, the wavelength of which in vacuum is 510nm

It is known from the condition that the wavelength of green in vacuum is equal to 510 nm. And we need to determine the energy of a quantum of green light.

For this we apply Planck’s formula to find the energy emitted by individual quanta:

E = h * V = hc / λ, where

E is the radiated energy, J;

c – speed of light (c is approximately equal to 3 * 10 ^ 8 m / s);

h – Planck’s constant (h = 6.626 * 10 ^ -34 J * s);

λ – radiation wavelength, m.

Substitute values and perform calculations:

E = (6.626 * 10 ^ -34 J * s * 3 * 10 ^ 8 m / s) / (5.1 * 10 ^ -7 m) = 3.9 * 10 ^ -19 J.
