| It is known from the condition that the wavelength of green in vacuum is equal to 510 nm. And we need to determine the energy of a quantum of green light.
For this we apply Planck’s formula to find the energy emitted by individual quanta:
E = h * V = hc / λ, where
E is the radiated energy, J;
c – speed of light (c is approximately equal to 3 * 10 ^ 8 m / s);
h – Planck’s constant (h = 6.626 * 10 ^ -34 J * s);
λ – radiation wavelength, m.
Substitute values and perform calculations:
E = (6.626 * 10 ^ -34 J * s * 3 * 10 ^ 8 m / s) / (5.1 * 10 ^ -7 m) = 3.9 * 10 ^ -19 J.
