| Determine the force of pressure of gasoline on the bottom of the tank, with an area of 250 cm squared, if the tank is filled to a height of 18 cm, and the density of gasoline is 710 kg / m3.
Given: S (bottom area) = 250 cm2 (in SI S = 250 * 10-4 m2); h (the height of the column of gasoline in the tank) = 18 cm (in SI h = 0.18 m).
Constants: g (acceleration due to gravity) ≈ 10 m / s2; according to the condition ρb (gasoline density) = 710 kg / m3.
To determine the force of gasoline pressure at the bottom of the taken tank, we use the equality: F / S = P = ρb * g * h, whence F = ρb * g * h * S.
Let’s calculate: F = 710 * 10 * 0.18 * 250 * 10-4 = 31.95 N.
Answer: Gasoline presses on the bottom of the taken tank with a force of 31.95 N.
