Britain lagged behind Germany and the United States in industry. This happened because in Britain the equipment in the factories that was installed earlier is outdated. Funds were needed to renovate production facilities. However, the situation has developed in such a way that it would be more profitable to invest in other countries, and not to support the national economy. The result of this policy was that England ceded world leadership in industry to Germany and the United States.
