The average speed of the bus along the entire route will be determined by the formula:
Vav = S / T, where S is the entire journey (in kilometers), T is the time spent on the entire journey (in hours).
The entire path, according to the conditions of the problem, consists of two sections S1 = 6 km and S2 = 10 km.
S = S1 + S2 = 16 km.
The first section of the journey took 12 minutes (T1), the second – 18 minutes (T2), which means the total time:
T = T1 + T2 = 30 minutes = 0.5 hours.
Thus, the average speed over the entire section of the path is equal to:
Vav = 16 / 0.5 = 32 km / h
