The reaction of zinc sulfide with hydrochloric acid is described by the following equation:
ZnS + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2S;
Let’s determine the molar amount of hydrochloric acid.
M HCl = 1 + 35.5 = 36.5 grams / mol;
N HCl = 200 x 0.2 x 1.098 / 36.5 = 1.203 mol;
This will synthesize 1.203 / 2 = 0.6015 mol of hydrogen sulfide.
