Development advantage with complete transformation.

In insects with incomplete transformation, the larvae are similar to their parents, but do not have wings and a developed reproductive system. There is tremendous competition for environmental resources between the adult (imago) and the larva. Complete transformation of insects differs from incomplete by the presence of an additional stage of metamorphosis – pupa. At the pupal stage, the larva has the opportunity to colossally rearrange its structure and turn into an adult. Thus, the larva that emerged from the egg of an insect with complete transformation is very different from the adult, has a different structure of the oral apparatus and does not compete with the imago for food resources, as well as for a place in the ecological niche.
