Did the medieval history of Eastern Europe have its own characteristic features?
1. Religious features. Eastern Europe was Orthodox and closely associated with Byzantium, for example, the metropolitan in Moscow until 1448 was not autocephalous and depended on his approval in Constantinople. Western Europe was Catholic.
2. Cultural features. In Eastern Europe, Gothic and Baroque were not represented in the construction of temples, and stone construction in general was less. There were no universities, later printing appeared (the middle of the 16th century, in Moscow, and the essence was earlier in Vilna).
3. Economic features. She was generally poorer, especially after the Mongol-Tatar invasion.
4. Did not take part in the Crusades and the Reconquista.
5. Resisted the onslaught of the crusaders (the most famous – the battle of Grunwald and Lake Peipsi).
