Differences between education in ancient Sparta and Athens.

Education in ancient Sparta was radically different from that in Athens:

1) Even at birth, babies in Sparta underwent severe natural selection, in Athens this was not;

2) The essence of education in Sparta was mainly based on physical training, in Athens, children developed comprehensively;

3) After 7 years in Sparta, boys were sent to special military camps, where they learned to survive; in Athens, boys were sent to educational institutions;

4) In Sparta, youths became real warriors, in Athens, youths became poets, artists, orators, artisans, etc.

5) A man in Sparta was a warrior, and in Athens a man could be a merchant, a craftsman and a farmer.
