| The general equation for the reaction of zinc with acid is:
Zn + 2H+ = Zn2+ + H2
Amount of substance H2:
v (H2) = V (H2) / Vm = 11.2 / 22.4 = 0.5 (mol).
According to the reaction equation, 1 mole of H2 is formed from 1 mole of Zn, therefore:
v (Zn) = v (H2) = 0.5 (mol) and thus
mass of zinc dissolved in acid:
m (Zn) = v (Zn) * M (Zn) = 0.5 * 65 = 32.5 (g).
