Do all plants have roots?

In the process of evolution, plant organs did not appear immediately. Lower plants, which include algae, have no organs at all. Moss has a stem and leaves, but no root yet. Its functions are performed by outgrowths of the integumentary tissue of the stem – rhizoids. They absorb water and minerals from moist soil. And some mosses, like sphagnum, do not even have rhizoids. These mosses absorb water by the dead cells that make up the leaves.
The first roots appeared in fern-like plants: lycopods, horsetails and ferns.
