Do aquatic plants release oxygen?

Algae, aquatic plants are plants whose life, in whole or in part, takes place in the aquatic environment. They can be both unicellular – microscopic, and very large – about 30 meters in length. During the process of photosynthesis, algae not only enrich the water with various organic substances, but also release oxygen into it. Oxygen dissolved in water breathes fish and other inhabitants of reservoirs. Algae also absorb minerals dissolved in water, which helps to cleanse water bodies.
