Does the force of sliding friction depend on the speed of movement of the bar?

u is the coefficient of friction. Depends only on the kind of material.

N is the reaction force of the support.

If N = m * g, then the formula takes the form:

Ftr = u * m * g

m is the mass of the bar.

g is the acceleration of gravity.

It can be seen that none of the formulas uses speed, which means that the friction force does not depend on the speed of the bar.
