Does the United States have colonies?

In fact, the US has no colonies at the moment. In any case, they have a completely different status. In particular, there is an indication that they are overseas territories of the country. And at the same time they are directly subordinate to the Government. These are mainly geographically important islands. Puerto Rico, for example, has long been trying to get the status of the next state in the country. Also in the Pacific there is such a formation as Guam, Saipan, Palau (associated with the USA) or Eastern Samye, which is also called “American”.
