Does winter happen in Africa, but no, and why?

In most of Africa (except for the highlands in the north of the Sahara), the winter we are accustomed to does not happen. In general, temperatures on this continent are below zero only in case of any climatic anomalies. Such a weather situation develops, since Africa is located at the equator and its coldest part coincides with the subtropical belt. In our usual winter time, there is no snow on the continent, and the alternation of warm summers and cold winters in our climate coincides with the local rainy and drought seasons.
