Each of two workers with the same qualifications can complete an order in 15 hours. Three hours after one of them started to fulfill the order, a second worker joined him, and they completed the work on the order together. How many hours did it take to complete the entire order?
1) Let’s find out how much work time will remain after the second worker appears, if it is known that the second worker came after 3 hours of work of the first, and one worker needs 15 hours.
15 – 3 = 12 hours.
2) Let’s find out how long it will take for two workers to complete an order, if it is known that one worker has 12 hours to work.
12/2 = 6 hours.
3) Let’s find out how long the order was completed, if one employee worked for 3 hours himself.
6 + 3 = 12 hours.
Answer: it took 12 hours of work to complete the order.
