Electric field and its characteristics.

An electrically charged body (particle or object) can remotely exert a force (attraction or repulsion) on another charged body. The space in which the force acts is called the electric field. To schematically represent an electric field, lines of the field are drawn around a charged body. An electric field moves away from a positive charge as it moves toward a negative charge. Thus, the electric field always moves from a positive charge to a negative one.
